2016 Cary Band Day – 10.29.2016

What an incredible end to the marching season!!!

The Mighty Marching Mustangs completed their 2nd clean sweep of the season:

Class 3A Drum Major – 1st place
Class 3A Color Guard – 1st place
Class 3A Percussion – 1st place
Class 3A Music Performance – 1st place
Class 3A Visual Performance – 1st place
Class 3A General Effect – 1st place
Class 3A Overall – 1st place

Class 1A, 2A and 3A – GRAND CHAMPIONS!!!

Plus, our Parent Volunteers also took home a BEST PIT CREW award as well.

CONGRATULATIONS to all, especially to the Seniors for an amazing year.


2016 Capital City Band Expo and Capital Cup – 10.22.2016

The Mighty Marching Mustangs had another successful showing at Sanderson High School.

They earned the following Class AA awards during Prelims:
Percussion – 1st place
Color Guard – 2nd place
General Effect – 2nd place
Visual Performance – 2nd place
Music Performance – 1st place
Class AA Overall – 2nd place

…AND earned a spot in the Capital Cup Finals, where they finished 7th Overall.

They sounded and looked awesome…a job very well done!!!


2016 Fuquay-Varina Festival of Bands – 10.15.2016

The Mighty Marching Mustangs completed a clean sweep of the following Class AAAA awards:

Class AAAA Overall – 1st place

…and repeated as OVERALL GRAND CHAMPION!!!

James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA

There were a total of 49 bands in attendance with 12 bands in Class 3A.

Best Visual Performance Class 3A: 1st Place

Best General Effect Class 3A: 1st Place

Best Overall Class 3A: 2nd Place (The band missed placing first by one tenth of a percent!)

Out of the 49 bands competing, Middle Creek had the 6th overall highest score.

Out of 7 bands in Class 4A, we won the following awards:

Color Guard – 1st Place
Music Performance – 1st Place
Marching – 1st Place
General Effect – 1st Place
Overall Class 4A – 1st Place
In addition, in a few areas the band scored higher
than  bands almost twice their size.

Ragsdale Competition Results – 10/26/2013

We were in Class 3A, one of 3 bands.  Here are the results.

Color guard – 2nd Place
Percussion – 1st Place
Drum Major – 2nd Place
Visual performance – 1st Place
Musical Performance – 2nd Place
General Effect – 1st Place
Overall Class 3A – 1st Place

However after a reexamination of the score sheets, we actually won the Grand Champion Award  (1 of 12 Bands)! Mr. Weiss will be receiving a letter confirming the oversight (and a formal apology) as this was a State Sheet competition and will also receive the Grand Champion trophy. Congratulations!!!!!

Fuquay Varina’s 25th Annual Festival of Bands – 10/18/2013

Band was in Class 2A – total of 6 bands competing in this class. Some of the scoring was close, and while results may seem weird, remember there are also percentages involved categorically.

Color Guard – 1st Place
Music Performance – 3rd Place
Visual Performance – 2nd Place
General Effect – 1st Place
Class 2A Overall – 1st Place
Reserve Champion (another way of saying Class1A/2A Champion – out of 9 bands total) – 1st Place
Spirit Award – MCHS

West Johnson Invitational – 10/12/2013

MCHS was in Class 2A which had 5 bands. Class 1A had 10 bands – and that is important to know for Best Overall regardless of class.

General Effect – 2nd Place

While we don’t have all individual scores, we do know that our woodwinds and brass scored the highest out of 1A and 2A for Best of the Day in their instrumentation.
